| Description: The Country Strategy Paper 2007-2013 and the Multi-annual Indicative Programme 2007-2010 identify the support of reforms in the social sectors (health and education) as priority 1 for EC cooperation with India. Subsequently, the Annual Action Programme 2007 allocates 110 million euro in support to the development of the Indian health system named the National Rural health Mission (NRHM) / Reproductive Child Health Programme 2 (RCH2) as envisioned by the Government of India. Two identification (one at the central level and one at state level covering three states) and one formulation missions took place during 2006/2007 to provide the design of this new intervention. The result was a “Sector Policy Support Programme to the National Rural Health Mission/Reproductive and Child Health 2” (SPSP NRHM/RCH2) proposal. The SPSP NRHM/RCH2 foresees two modalities of implementation, i) Budget Support and ii) Capacity Building: the Institutional and Technical Support component (ITS). | |
